Recycling Awareness

I have learned first and most important about the 4 R's. Recycling,Reduce,Reuse, and Rot. I learned why and how it is important to include the 4 R's in our everyday lives. Recycling can be taken by granted by a lot of people but everyone is effected by it. It can help our environment now and in the future a lot. Without the 4 R's there would be a lot of trash that eventually there will be no more room to put it and we will have a lot of trash and not know what to do with it.

The 4 R's are used at my house. We have 2 bins for recycling. One of the bins if used for bottles, paper, cans, and plastic. The other bin is for yard trimmings. Instead of throwing everything aways and sending it to the landfill, we recycle everything we can.To improve the 4R's at home I am going to make sure that everyone in my house hold is recycling.

Recycling at Tennyson High School will begin to be and improvement. The Tennyson leadership class have received recycling bins to distribute through out the school. With these bins recycling will increase at Tennyson and it will be a cleaner and smarter school. Tennyson will be a part of helping the environment. Our goal is to get these bins into every class room and make recycling a success.

Davis Street Transfer Center

The Davis Street Transfer Center is a recycling center. They collect trash from about 20 cities in the bay area and recycle about 75% of the trash so that it doesn't go into the landfill. The transfer center recycles paper, bottles, wood, electronics. I learned that it is very important to recycle because not everything can go into the landfills because they will eventually get full and there will be no where for the trash to go. A lot of our trash can be reused for other thing and the Davis Street Transfer Center helps in doing so.

Composting at THS Farm

In our CMMA class we went down to the garden and made a compost pile. Compost piles are fun to make and very useful for the environment. Instead of throwing away food waste you can throw it in the compost pile and it will decompose. This can be used as fertilizer and helps the soil.
